Quorn Vegan Nuggets
Years after going vegan in 2011, I discovered this awesome brand called Quorn, who make these magic vegan ‘chicken’ style products that look like chicken, taste like chicken, but are definitely not chicken. They currently have a small selection of vegan products available in SA that are healthier, cruelty free, alternatives to chicken. If you have not tried any of them yet, you should. The Quorn vegan nuggets are amazing on their own, or added to any dish. You’ll find them in the freezer section at Pick ‘n Pay, Spar and Checkers. As a rule, remember to look out for the Vegan label on the front of their packaging, as most of the Quorn products are vegetarian.
Vegan Savoury Rice and Veg
Firstly, to create this vegan dinner plate, I made a delicious savoury rice by combining rice, vegetable stock, onion, garlic, green pepper and peas. While this was cooking, I sautéed green beans together with olive oil, vegan margarine, garlic and black pepper. Lastly, I steamed peas and broccoli and then baked some Quorn Vegan Nuggets.
