Shwely wipes are 10cm x 10cm in size and handmade in Cape Town. You can buy a single wipe (unpackaged) or a pack of 7 (tied with a ribbon) with or without a fabric pouch to store them in. They come in a variety of patterns, and I just love this one, because it makes me think of olives. Each reusable wipe is has a patterned fabric on the one side, and microfibre on the other.
The amazing thing about using reusable wipes every day, is that not only do you save money in the long run, you also drastically reduce your waste. It is recommended to wash a reusable cloth after every use, and by keeping them together in a mesh bag, it makes them easier to find in your load of washing and it also protects them.
If you are planning on using these as baby wet wipes then you are also not exposing your baby to the chemicals often found in traditional single use wet wipes. To use these as wet wipes, just run them under warm water, and give them a quick squeeze but if you are out and about you take along a spray bottle with water. After use you can store them in a sealed bag if you are out and about, or a mesh bag at home, which you can throw in the machine without getting your hands dirty. After washing, hang on the line to dry if possible.
where to buy?
You can buy these directly from Shwely (send a DM on Instagram) or from Organic Living and Tenga Tenga in Cape Town and online at The Bear Necessities (KZN based).
