vegan ice cream – Kristen’s kick-ass ice cream

by Sharné

Kristen’s kick-ass ice cream has a few vegan ice cream flavours, which you can buy per scoop or 500ml tub, and their sugar cones are vegan, too.

Kristen’s kick-ass ice cream

They make small-batch, artisanal ice cream which they slow churn, 3 liters at a time, in Noordhoek, Constantia and even in Mauritius. They source their ingredients locally, and also offer a small range of dairy-free vegan flavours.

Vegan Peanut Butter Cream

This was the first vegan flavour I tried, as it was the only vegan flavour in the display freezer in their Constantia shop. It is a smooth, peanut-butter flavoured creamy ice cream that you just have to try.

Vegan Coconut Fudge

There is a large fridge in the main area, filled with 500ml tubs of ice cream. I bought a vegan coconut fudge ice cream tub to take home. It is made with coconut milk, coconut cream, NoMu dark cocoa, sugar, pure vanilla extract and a pinch of sea salt. The other flavours at the time were Vegan Matcha Green Tea & Vegan Vanilla Bean tubs.

Vegan sugar cones

I was super happy to find out that their sugar cones are also vegan. So happy, that I bought 10 to take home and enjoy with the vegan coconut fudge ice cream. These cones are made with wheat flour, sugar, water, flavouring, oat fibre, soy protein isolate, sunflower seed oil, soy lecithin (emulsifier) and potassium sorbate (preservative).

I tried their ice-cream some months ago. I’m not sure they had vegan at the time because I had regular. I don’t remember what flavour I had, but I do remember it was delicious! I can only imagine how delicious their vegan range is! 🙂

Hi Ashley. The two vegan flavours I have tried so far were amazing! Can’t wait to try the other vegan ones.

Thanks for this 🙂 I recall them saying that their Vegan ice-cream used honey… Is that correct, or has it changed?

Hi Makeeda. They do have a vegan coconut fudge (no honey) as well as a banting coconut fudge version which does have honey. Just ask for the vegan one. I bought a vegan tub and the ingredients are listed underneath. Hope that helps!
