I’ve been trying really hard to reduce the amount of takeaways I order at work during the week. What works best for me is to pack leftovers for lunch and to also take snacks with. That’s where a reusable stainless steel tiffin comes in handy, especially this 3 tier tiffin, because I can pack my breakfast in one, my lunch in another, and I still have space for snacks.

Tiffins are also known as dhabbas and are traditionally round containers, with stacking stainless steel compartments. The tiffin is sealed with a lid and a side clip and has a handle for easy handling. Tiffins originated in India, where a home cooked meal which consists of various dishes was placed in the various compartments.

By investing in a reusable ecoffee cup you could significantly reduce the single use waste you are responsible for.

Globally, every year, 500 billion single-use coffee cups are thrown away! In South Africa apparently, only about 11% of people actually recycle, so most of the single-use coffee cups will end up in a landfill. And for the cups that do get added to the recycling, only a handful will actually get recycled because there are only a few specialised recycling facilities that can process used coffee cups.

Ecoffee cups are made with bamboo fibre and a matte food-grade silicone lid and sleeve. They are dishwasher safe and come in a variety of patterns, colours and sizes.

I have two Ecoffee cups, a black one and this 400ml limited edition Porthcurno, ocean-inspired design. Ecoffee donates 10% of every sale of the Porthcurno design, to Surfers Against Sewage, a marine conservation charity working with communities to protect oceans, waves, beaches and marine life.

If you need new reusable snack and food containers, why not invest in plastic-free versions this #plasticfreejuly That way you can take snacks and food to work instead of buying food items wrapped in single-use plastic. I take this stainless snack box to work, filled with yummy vegan snacks.

If you already have plastic food containers don’t throw them out, rather use them. Being a conscious consumer means you are using what you already have but when you need something new, you are making better choices that is earth, animal and people friendly. I have old plastic food containers, together with newer glass (plastic lids) and stainless ones in my kitchen, which shows the evolution of my green journey.
